This article by Cynthia Boaz is a must read for anyone who believes that the United States is a "Christian Nation" and/or was founded on Christian principles.
Excluding her pacifism argument, I agree with everything she said.

The Years Of Writing Dangerously

Cynthia Boaz reads the Gospel accounts too literally -- surely if you accept continuing revelation (as in the holy writings of Adam Smith, John Rockefeller, Martin Friedman, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Ronald Reagan, W, and Karl Rove, et al), you'd know that the Pilgrims fled the Papist-leaning Church of England to found a City on the Hill (and surely God spoke directly to some of them) and the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution should be read in conjunction with the Bible (You need to read some Scotish Protestant interpretations of scripture). The reality is that real primitive Christianity has an assumption that we live in the end times and that history has already been written -- Obama, especially because he fits the liberal's reading of the Bible, is the perfect Anti-Christ (if he brings peace to the Middle East, that will be a clincher that hopefully will then lead to the rebuilding of the temple and the restoration of animal sacrifices in Jerusalem) who will lead "so-called" Christians astray. Maranatha -- LORD, come quickly!
Thank you for providing the underlying analysis of our craziness.
Joe
